Severe weather in Pakistan
Overview
In early October, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued alerts for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and hailstorms affecting Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab. The weather caused damage to crops and orchards in Nowshera and raised concerns regarding landslides in hilly regions like Murree and Galiyat.
By late October, continued rainfall and hailstorms across Lahore and various parts of Punjab resulted in a noticeable drop in temperatures. The PMD forecasted further unsettled weather, including potential hailstorms driven by strong westerly winds, across upper Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
