Pakistani Air Raids Kill 13 Civilians in Afghanistan

On June 10, Pakistani air strikes hit houses in Afghanistan’s eastern provinces of Khost, Kunar and Paktika, killing at least 13 people and wounding 14, according to Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid. Among the dead were 11 children, a woman and an elderly man.

The attacks followed a day after suspected Tehrik‑e‑Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants assaulted a checkpoint in Hasan Khel, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, prompting a clash that left six Pakistani federal police killed. Pakistan has not confirmed the air strikes.

The incident adds to months of cross‑border violence between the two neighbours, with the border closed to trade and concerns that the fighting could further destabilise the region and worsen humanitarian conditions.
