Pakistani airstrikes kill 13 and wound 14 in Afghan border provinces

Pakistani army aircraft bombed civilian homes in the Afghan provinces of Kunar, Khost and Paktika, killing at least 13 people – including 11 children – and wounding 14 women and children. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid condemned the attacks, saying the Pakistani forces violated Afghan airspace and targeting "hideouts and other installations of militants" used against Pakistan.

The strikes come amid a fragile cease‑fire between the two neighbours that was brokered by China in March after months of mutual cross‑border fighting that began in February. No immediate comment was provided by Pakistani officials, and the incident raises fears that the truce could collapse.

The United Nations and regional actors have called for restraint, warning that further civilian casualties could destabilise an already volatile region.
