Pakistani forces detain Baloch activists, civilians in Balochistan

Human rights organisations in Balochistan allege that Pakistani security forces carried out a raid on July 21, 2026 in Mastung district, deploying more than 20 Frontier Corps vehicles with around 60 personnel. Six civilians – 33‑year‑old Bibi Rafia, her three young children, her brother Muhammad Arif and her niece Bibi Nida – were taken from a house in the Killi Kongarh area and have not been seen since. Rights groups describe the incident as an enforced disappearance and have asked the authorities and UN bodies to disclose the detainees’ whereabouts and ensure their safety.

In a related development, a late‑night raid on July 25 in Quetta’s Hudda neighbourhood led to the detention of Jihand Baloch, central chairman of the Baloch Students Organisation. According to his wife, Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department entered the home, threatened the family at gunpoint, assaulted children and removed Jihand Baloch to an undisclosed location. The BSO is demanding his production before a court and unconditional release. Simultaneous raids in Kalat district detained more than 20 people, with reports of physical abuse. Earlier, five people, including a woman and three children, were reportedly taken in Mastung. The incidents have prompted calls for accountability and international intervention.
