Pakistani strikes kill 36 civilians in Afghanistan, UN raises concern

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said the recent Pakistani cross‑border air strikes in Afghanistan’s eastern provinces of Paktia, Paktika and Kunar have caused severe civilian harm. A total of 36 people, including women and children, were killed and 163 injured.

Detailed reports from the Taliban‑led government indicated that in Mandokhail village (Chamkani District, Paktia) a first strike hit a civilian house, killing an elderly man and a child, and a second strike hit rescuers, killing 28 villagers and injuring 158. In Walust village (Giyan District, Paktika) six civilians, mostly women and children, were killed. In Barolo village (Manogai District, Kunar) a house was destroyed but no casualties were reported. OCHA called for the protection of civilians and respect for international humanitarian law.
