Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir protests spark US demonstration and Indian condemnation

The Jammu & Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) organised a protest outside the White House in Washington, D.C., on July 12, 2026, where participants raised slogans such as “Stop State Terrorism in PoK” and called for the complete withdrawal of Pakistani troops from the region‑occupied territory.

India’s Ministry of External Affairs issued a strong statement on July 14, 2026 condemning Pakistan’s handling of the unrest, describing it as “decades‑long systemic exploitation, denial of fundamental rights, and administrative oppression.” The MEA accused Pakistani security forces of excessive police brutality, including against women and children, blocking food and medicine, imposing internet blackouts and using lethal force, and urged the international community to hold Pakistan accountable.
