Palangka Raya prepares oxygen rooms for rising respiratory infections

The Palangka Raya City Government is intensifying health measures in response to rising Acute Respiratory Infection (ISPA) cases caused by forest and land fires (karhutla). To mitigate the impact of smoke and poor air quality, the government has prepared oxygen rooms across 11 community health centers (puskesmas), including Menteng, Bukit Hindu, Pahandut, Jekan Raya, Panarung, Kereng Bangkirai, Kalampangan, Marina Permai, Tangkiling, and Rakumpit.

Mayor Fairid Naparin conducted night inspections at several facilities to ensure medical readiness. Four specific health centers—Pahandut, Menteng, Kereng Bangkirai, and Tangkiling—have been designated to provide 24-hour emergency services with dedicated medical teams and sufficient oxygen supplies.

In addition to medical facilities, the local government is distributing masks through health and social services, as well as schools, to reduce respiratory risks. Officials have advised residents to minimize outdoor activities and wear masks when necessary.
