L'Aquila's Palazzo Farinosi Branconi reopens as a new cultural hub

Palazzo Farinosi Branconi in L'Aquila has reopened as a new cultural hub, La Galleria Bper, following extensive restoration work initiated after the 2009 earthquake. The project is part of Bper’s broader initiative to transform its historical assets into community-focused cultural spaces.

The new center will host exhibitions, including a permanent exhibition titled ‘Scrigno di memorie. Paesaggi, colori e tradizione: cinque secoli d’arte del Meridione’. It also features a selection of works from Bper’s corporate collection, including pieces from the former Cassa di Risparmio della Provincia dell’Aquila. The facility is designed to support educational activities for all ages, from primary school to university levels.

In conjunction with this opening, L'Aquila is preparing for its role as the Italian Capital of Culture in 2026. Other cultural activities in the city include the 12th edition of the ‘Jazz Italiano per le terre del sisma’ festival, which brings hundreds of musicians to various historic locations to support regional reconstruction through art.
