Palazzolo Community Hospital evacuated after Legionella case

The Community Hospital in Palazzolo sull'Oglio has been evacuated following a confirmed case of Legionnaires' disease in an elderly patient. The individual had stayed at the facility during September and was later diagnosed with the infection after seeking emergency care at the Spedali Civili in Brescia.

In response, ASST Franciacorta has implemented disinfection protocols and preventive measures. All current patients at the facility were evaluated; none showed symptoms related to the infection. Consequently, patients were either discharged to their homes or transferred to other company facilities to ensure continuity of care. The hospital is currently empty while monitoring and environmental cleaning continue.
