Palermo Botanical Garden hosts Zagara d’Autunno exhibition

The Palermo Botanical Garden has launched the Zagara d’Autunno, a gardening and floriculture exhibition and market running from October 23 to October 25. This year’s event features a documentary exhibition dedicated to manna, exploring the intersection of myth, landscape, and tradition.

The exhibition includes historical tools, botanical specimens, and reproductions of artworks, such as a watercolor by Houel from the Louvre, depicting the manna harvest. The display is centered around an imposing ash tree located within the Gymnasium and will remain on view until November 8.

Massimo Midiri, Rector of the University of Palermo, noted that the event aims to strengthen the link between the university and the international community by promoting cultural and scientific heritage. Rosario Schicchi, Director of the Botanical Garden, highlighted that the event pays homage to the unique ash forest landscapes of Castelbuono and Pollina within the Madonie Park, which are essential to Mediterranean arboriculture.
