Mayor Roberto Lagalla has moved to reduce the portion of the Sipet horse‑track concession that occupies the Renzo Barbera stadium site, aiming to meet the UEFA deadline of 31 July for a full‑cover stadium needed for Italy’s Euro 2032 bid. The city warns that failure could forfeit a €60 million regional contribution.

Palermo FC and the municipality are preparing a 90‑year concession agreement that would allow the club to invest in long‑term upgrades of the historic arena. Club president Dario Mirri highlighted the strategic importance of the deal for modernising the venue.

Midfielder Filippo Ranocchia told reporters that at 25 he feels more mature and the squad is focused on promotion to Serie A. The club also announced goalkeeper Sebastiano Desplanches’ contract renewal with a loan option to Frosinone, and the arrival of loan goalkeeper Mattia Fortin from Lens. Outside‑left options such as Riccardo Bozzolan remain under consideration, with interest also shown in Issiaka Kamate and Emanuele Rao.
