Palermo-Montecarlo sailing regatta to begin in Mondello

The 2026 Palermo-Montecarlo offshore sailing regatta is set to begin on Tuesday, August 18, departing from the Gulf of Mondello. The event features 39 confirmed boats competing in a 500-mile course across the Mediterranean from Sicily to Monte Carlo.

Notable participants include the record-holding super maxi Black Jack 100, owned by Remon Vos, which set a course record in 2025. Other major competitors in the Maxi category include the 86-foot Marta07, skippered by Furio Benussi, and the 78-foot Fiamme Gialle Nice, helmed by Francesco Nerone.

In the ORC Double Handed category, the vessel Melagodo, owned by Luca De Luca and crewed by Federico Serafini, will compete as a two-man team. The duo currently leads the Italian Offshore Championship standings and aims to leverage their high performance in reduced crews during this challenging race.
