Egypt, Morocco, Palestine and Yemen face hot, humid early summer conditions

National meteorological services in Egypt, Morocco, the Palestinian territories and Yemen have issued forecasts for the period from 21 June to the end of June 2026, marking the start of the astronomical summer.

In Egypt the public authority warned that daytime temperatures will reach 40‑42 °C in the southern governorates, with humidity raising the perceived heat by 1‑2 °C. A dense water‑fog is expected from 04:00‑08:00 on main roads in the north, central, and eastern regions, and wind gusts of 30‑40 km/h may stir dust in exposed areas. Light showers are possible along the northern coasts.

Morocco’s general directorate of meteorology predicts hot weather across the southeast, eastern and southern desert zones, with daytime highs between 20‑35 °C and night lows of 9‑15 °C in the Atlas foothills. Localized thunderstorms and strong winds, especially near Tangier and eastern provinces, may bring dust.

The Palestinian weather office forecast clear, hot conditions in lowlands, milder in the mountains, and cautioned against prolonged sun exposure and fire risk in dry vegetation.

Yemen’s national centre expects hot, humid coastal weather with scattered thunderstorms in highland areas, desert temperatures of 40‑44 °C, and sea‑breeze winds of 24‑34 kn near Socotra and Aden. Advisories include ample water intake and avoiding direct sun between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

All agencies advise the public to monitor updates, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and drive cautiously when fog is present.
