Palestinian authorities report rising casualties and agricultural destruction

Palestinian health authorities report that since October 7, 2023, the death toll has reached 73,387, with 174,257 injuries, primarily affecting women and children. Recent data indicates that since a ceasefire took effect on October 11, 1,259 Palestinians have been killed and 4,146 injured, with 807 bodies recovered.

In the West Bank, particularly in the Jenin governorate, intensified excavation operations, tree uprooting, and destruction of water resources are threatening agricultural lands and orchards in villages such as Zbouba. A report by the Wafa news agency highlights that these actions, alongside settlement expansion and the construction of new roads, are compromising food security by destroying wells, cutting water pipes, and preventing farmers from accessing their land. Specific projects, such as the Emek Dotan settlement and the ‘Scarlet Thread’ military road project in the Tubas governorate, are cited as major threats to local livelihoods and agricultural stability.
