Palestinian casualties and West Bank instability

Overview

Palestinian authorities have reported significant casualties and widespread destruction of resources. Since October 7, 2023, the reported death toll has reached 73,387, with 174,257 injuries. Following a ceasefire that began on October 11, 1,259 Palestinians were reportedly killed and 4,146 injured.

In the West Bank, military operations including excavation and tree uprooting have threatened agricultural stability in areas such as the Jenin governorate. Reports indicate that settlement expansion and military road projects, such as the ‘Scarlet Thread’ in the Tubas governorate, are compromising food security by destroying wells and preventing farmer access to land.

Individual incidents of violence continue to be reported. In the southern Gaza Strip near Khan Yunis, a 14-year-old was reportedly shot by Israeli forces. In the West Bank, an Israeli settler has been formally accused of homicide following the death of a Palestinian activist during a confrontation over land use near Hebron.
