Palestinian authorities warn of medical neglect of prisoners in Israel

Palestinian authorities have warned that the systematic deprivation of medical care and the neglect of health services for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody may constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity. In communications sent to the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the UN Human Rights Council, officials highlighted the deteriorating conditions of detainees.

Specific concerns were raised regarding 15-year-old Muhammed Musa Hamid, whose health has reportedly reached a critical state due to medical neglect. Authorities describe a broader policy of withholding medication, delaying medical consultations, preventing hospital transfers, and denying access to specialized rehabilitation and basic hygiene.

The Palestinian Prisoners and Released Prisoners Affairs Commission reported that detainees have been isolated from the outside world for 1,000 days. They noted that the International Committee of the Red Cross has been prevented from visiting prisons to independently monitor conditions.

Reports indicate that the number of Palestinian prisoners has reached 9,400, including 350 children and 94 women. Detainees face severe overcrowding, malnutrition, and a lack of essential supplies such as clean water, clothing, and blankets, alongside prolonged isolation and physical abuse.
