Palestinian casualties rise following strikes in Jenin and Gaza

Eight Palestinians were killed on August 28, 2026, during Israeli military operations and settler violence across the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

In Jenin, three individuals—Qais Ibrahim al-Bitawi, Basil Muhammad Turkman, and Mu'min Muhammad Jaradat—were killed by an Israeli drone strike in the Harsh al-Saada area. Following the strike, Israeli forces reportedly entered the area with significant military reinforcements.

In the Gaza Strip, five deaths were reported. In eastern Gaza City, Hani al-Mazloum was killed when an airstrike hit a tent for displaced persons. In the Sabra neighborhood, Hassan al-Dairi was killed in another strike. In Khan Younis, three members of the Abdeen family—Lafi Fayez Lafi Abdeen, Tayseer Fayez Lafi Abdeen, and Abdul Hamid Muhammad Abdeen—were killed by airstrikes in the Al-Qarara area. The International Authority to Support Palestinian Rights (HASHAD) characterized the targeting of the Abdeen family as a potential war crime.

In the West Bank, settler violence and military activity caused further casualties and property damage. In Al-Mughayyir, north of Ramallah, three people were injured during an encounter involving settlers and Israeli soldiers. In Al-Khader, south of Bethlehem, a man and his son sustained injuries during an assault by settlers. Additionally, in the Ya'bad area near Jenin, settlers destroyed approximately 450 guava trees and damaged irrigation networks and fencing.
