Palestinian detainees face starvation and medical neglect at Israel's Megiddo Prison

A committee representing Palestinian prisoners reported that detainees held in Israel's Megiddo Prison are subjected to systematic starvation, medical neglect, physical abuse, and severe hygiene shortages. The report notes that prisoners receive only one hour of hot water daily, limited ventilation, and are often handcuffed during legal visits, preventing them from signing documents or using phones.

Palestinian doctor Mazen er‑Rantisi, who was detained for over a month, described the conditions as a "torture regime," citing rapid weight loss, denied medical examinations, and frequent violent raids by guards that include tear‑gas attacks and forced kneeling. He also recounted being escorted to meetings blindfolded, with his hands cuffed and his back bent.

According to the committee, more than 9,500 Palestinians, including women and children, are currently imprisoned in Israeli facilities, and over 100 have died since October 2023 under similar conditions.
