Palestinian housing crisis intensifies in Gaza and West Bank

In the Gaza Strip, civil defense teams are working to rescue residents trapped under collapsing structures. More than 2,000 buildings in Gaza are reportedly in a precarious state and at risk of collapse, many of which are currently being used as shelters by displaced Palestinians. Rescue operations are hampered by a lack of heavy machinery and specialized equipment.

Recent collapses have resulted in significant casualties, including a single incident that killed 21 people, including 12 children. Local health authorities report that ongoing strikes have caused extensive damage, with over 102,000 buildings damaged or destroyed and approximately 330,000 housing units partially or totally ruined.

In the West Bank, Palestinian families are facing displacement due to home demolitions. In the Masafer Yatta region, one family has been forced to live in a cave after their homes were demolished by Israeli forces. The family utilizes solar panels for electricity and a well for water to sustain themselves in the underground shelter.
