Palestinian Journalists Syndicate condemns escalation of arrests against media workers
The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate has issued statements condemning an escalation in Israeli military actions targeting Palestinian media professionals. The syndicate reported a rise in the number of detained journalists, which has reached 39 individuals, including five women: Bushra al-Taweel, Nakaa Hamed, Islam Amarna, Farah Abu Ayash, and Natalie Abu Diya.
Recent incidents include the arrest of journalist Nakaa Hamed near a military checkpoint in Tuqu, Bethlehem, and the arrest of journalist Alaa al-Rimawi in Ramallah following a home raid. Additionally, journalists Moaz Amarna and Sabri Jibril were placed under administrative detention for four months.
The syndicate highlighted that approximately 50% of the detained journalists are being held under administrative detention without clear charges or trials. The organization called upon the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to intervene, demanding the immediate release of the journalists and an end to the targeting of media workers for their professional activities.
