Palliative care networks host awareness events in Belgium and the Netherlands

Various organizations in Belgium and the Netherlands are holding events to mark the Week of Palliative Care and promote awareness of end-of-life support.

In Belgium, Palliatieve Zorg Regio Dender is celebrating its 30th anniversary with an Open (T)Huis in Herdersem on October 10. The event aims to break taboos and misconceptions surrounding palliative care through workshops, an exhibition, and a memory market. Activities include aroma care, massage, and kintsugi, alongside a walking route called the Mijmerpad designed for reflecting on memories of loved ones.

In the Netherlands, the documentary ‘Just Our Heart’ by Maartje Nevejan is being screened at ECI Roermond in collaboration with the Netwerk Palliatieve Zorg Midden-Limburg and the Centrum voor Levensvragen. The film explores how grief can transform from a private experience of sadness into a source of strength and connection, utilizing rituals to address personal and collective loss.
