Palm Beach Airport renamed Donald J. Trump International Airport

Florida officials have officially renamed Palm Beach International Airport after former President Donald J. Trump. The change, enacted by House Bill 919 and signed by Governor Ron DeSantis, takes effect on July 9, 2026. New roadway signs displaying "President Donald J. Trump International Airport" were installed on I‑95 at exit 69B in early July, ahead of the formal ceremony.

The Federal Aviation Administration will adopt the new name, while the airport’s IATA code changes from PBI to DJT on August 18, 2026. The transition is not expected to affect ticketing, reservations, or baggage handling. The renaming project is budgeted at over $5 million for signage, branding, uniforms and promotional materials.

Legal challenges have been filed, including a lawsuit by pilot George W. Poncy Jr. alleging state overreach and safety concerns, and a separate action by attorney Victoria Doyle questioning the trademark licensing agreement with the Trump Organization. Despite these suits, the airport, which serves about 8.6 million passengers a year and lies near Mar‑a‑LGro, proceeds with the name change.
