Palm Beach County health officials issue water quality advisories

Health officials in Palm Beach County, Florida, have issued water quality advisories following elevated bacteria levels and a wastewater spill.

Testing conducted on September 21 revealed Enterococcus bacteria levels that fail to meet state recreational water quality criteria at three specific locations: Ocean Inlet Park in Boynton Beach, the Boynton Beach site in Ocean Ridge, and DuBois Park in Jupiter. Officials advise against all water-related activities at these sites until levels fall below health standards.

Additionally, a wastewater spill near the Boca Raton Resort has prompted warnings for residents and visitors. The spill entered Camino Real and reached waters connected to the Intracoastal Waterway. Authorities have advised against swimming or contact with the water in the affected area and have cautioned against using the water for irrigation.

While the spill has raised concerns regarding fecal bacteria that can cause illness, infections, or skin rashes, officials stated that the wastewater has not affected the drinking water supply.
