The driver, operating a Nissan Almera, lost control of the vehicle, striking a fire hydrant, a trash bin, and a lamppost before hitting the pedestrians. The victims, four women of German nationality aged between 27 and 37, were reportedly preparing to participate in a marathon held in Palma.
One 29-year-old woman sustained serious injuries and was transported to Son Espases Hospital. The other three women suffered less severe injuries and were taken to the Miramar and Rotger clinics. Local police confirmed the driver tested positive for alcohol and faces charges of offenses against traffic safety and injuries due to gross negligence.
