Drunk driving incidents in Palma

Overview

Authorities in Palma have investigated two separate incidents involving drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.

On October 17, a 47-year-old man crashed into a construction fence on the Sóller road. After the collision, the driver continued driving despite significant vehicle damage and an oil leak. Police testing indicated a blood alcohol level of 0.85, which was “more than triple the legal limit.”

On October 18, a 25-year-old driver was arrested after losing control of a vehicle in the Son Fusteret area. The car struck a fire hydrant, a trash bin, and a lamppost before veering onto a sidewalk at a bus stop. The collision injured four German women, aged 27 to 37, who were preparing for a marathon. One woman sustained serious injuries, while three others suffered less severe injuries. The driver tested positive for alcohol and faces charges of offenses against traffic safety and injuries due to gross negligence.
