Paola Holguín named Colombia's new Minister of Culture

President‑elect Abelardo De La Espriella announced on 17 July 2026 that former senator Paola Holguín will become Colombia’s Minister of Culture, taking office on 7 August. Further controversy arose when Interior minister‑designate Rodrigo Lara alleged that President Gustavo Petro directed the Historic Pact to back Centro Democrático’s candidate Honorio Henríquez for Senate president, a move seen as an attempt to hinder the new administration.
