Pampa Energía targets AI data center demand in Vaca Muerta
Pampa Energía president Marcelo Mindlin announced that the company has 800 MW of electrical generation capacity available to power artificial intelligence data centers in the Vaca Muerta region of Neuquén, Argentina. During a presentation at Argentina Week in Paris, Mindlin noted that the company intends to utilize existing, idle capacity rather than building new power plants to meet the growing energy demands of the AI industry.
Separately, at the XI Energy Week organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLADE) in Santo Domingo, discussions highlighted Vaca Muerta as a key asset for regional energy integration. While the region seeks to increase energy security and competitiveness, experts noted that transforming Vaca Muerta's natural gas into sustained exports will require significant improvements in transport infrastructure and financing to connect resources with regional markets.
