Pampilhosa da Serra hosts solar eclipse and Perseids astronomy event

On 12 August, the village of Fajão in Pampilhosa da Serra, Portugal, will host a one‑day program titled “Natureza, Yoga e Estrelas.” The initiative combines the observation of a partial solar eclipse and the peak of the Perseids meteor shower with outdoor yoga, photography sessions and guided explanations of the celestial phenomena.

Organised by the company Epic Land with support from the Municipality of Pampilhosa da Serra and the tourism agency ADXTUR, participants will gather at 16:00, walk to the open‑air Geoscope observatory, watch the eclipse using provided protective glasses, and later view the Perseids, Saturn and the Milky Way under the guidance of astronomer Samuel Batista. The event costs €15 for adults, with reduced fees for children, and registration is limited via the BookinXisto platform.

The program aims to merge science, nature and wellbeing, promoting the region’s low light pollution and high‑quality night skies as a tourist attraction.
