Pampilhosa da Serra community astronomy events

In late July 2026, the villages of Fajão and Ponte de Fajão hosted a two‑day children’s summer camp at the Eira da Brincadeira site. About 70 youngsters participated in traditional games, outdoor activities and a guided night‑sky session led by astronomer Samuel Batista, highlighting local heritage and community involvement.

A few weeks later, on 12 August, the same village organized a public “Natureza, Yoga e Estrelas” program. The one‑day event combined observation of a partial solar eclipse and the Perseids meteor shower with yoga and photography, again featuring guidance from Samuel Batista. Sponsored by Epic Land, the municipality and the regional tourism agency, the event aimed to showcase the area’s low light‑pollution skies as a tourism asset.

Both activities illustrate an ongoing effort by local authorities and volunteers in Pampilhosa da Serra to promote outdoor education, astronomy tourism, and community cohesion through seasonal public programs.
