PAN leadership signals potential 2027 alliances with PRI
The National President of the PAN, Jorge Romero Herrera, has signaled the possibility of forming electoral alliances with opposition parties, including the PRI, for the 2027 elections. During a visit to Tamaulipas, Romero did not rule out such coalitions as a means to recover municipal territories lost to Morena.
In Tamaulipas, PAN Secretary General César Verástegui Ostos confirmed that negotiations with opposition forces are ongoing but have not yet reached a formal agreement. While the party works on selecting profiles for 43 municipalities, the specific composition of any future alliance remains undecided.
In the southern region of Tamaulipas, the PAN has made strategic appointments, including naming former mayor Jesús “Chucho” Nader as a coordinator in Tampico. Meanwhile, within the PRI, state leader Bruno Díaz has expressed openness to an alliance with the PAN, provided it is conducted under conditions of equity and fair distribution of candidacies.
