PAN leader Jorge Romero Herrera visits Tamaulipas to bolster party membership

Jorge Romero Herrera, president of the National Executive Committee of the National Action Party (PAN), recently visited Tamaulipas to assess the state of the party's local membership. Following the rejection of an appeal by Omehira López Reyna, the party leadership has moved to support the winning internal election slate led by Gloria Garza Jiménez and César Verástegui Ostos.

During his visit to Victoria and Tampico, Romero Herrera defended former governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca, characterizing him as a victim of political persecution by the Morena government in Tamaulipas. However, local perspectives challenge this narrative, citing past instances of political pressure and repression against PAN members during Cabeza de Vaca’s administration.

In Tampico, the party is working to reorganize, including efforts to bring Jesús ‘Chucho’ Nader Nasrallah back to the municipal ballot. The leadership aims to revitalize the party in the region following a period of internal tension and electoral losses.
