PAN political reorganization in Tamaulipas

Overview

The National Action Party (PAN) in Tamaulipas has undergone a period of internal restructuring and membership shifts. Initially, the party recruited businessmen Juanjo Salazar and Jorge García García, both former members of Movimiento Ciudadano and Morena, to bolster its ranks. These transitions were reportedly facilitated by César Verástegui Ostos. Juanjo Salazar’s move from Movimiento Ciudadano reportedly stemmed from frustrations regarding municipal candidacy processes following the appointment of Gustavo Cárdenas Gutiérrez as the MC Delegate in Tamaulipas. Salazar is currently campaigning in Victoria for a mayoral candidacy, facing competition from García García in a struggle for political positioning.

Following internal electoral disputes and the rejection of an appeal by Omehira López Reyna, PAN national president Jorge Romero Herrera visited Victoria and Tampico to assess local membership. The national leadership has moved to support the internal election slate led by Gloria Garza Jiménez and César Verástegui Ostos. During his visit, Romero Herrera defended former governor Francisco García Cabeza de Vaca against claims of political persecution by the Morena government.

Recent leadership changes have also occurred at the municipal level. In Reynosa, Raúl García Vivían has assumed the presidency of the municipal delegation of the PAN, with the swearing-in ceremony led by state leader Gloria Garza. García Vivían has committed to working with party members to regain citizen trust and increase local participation.
