PAN legislators criticize Mexico's 2027 budget proposals

Members of the National Action Party (PAN) have raised concerns regarding the 2027 Federal Expenditure Budget in Mexico, specifically targeting allocations for healthcare and transportation.

Deputy Éctor Jaime warned that while the federal government has announced expanded universal health services, the budget does not provide additional funds to cover new patients. He noted that institutions like IMSS and ISSSTE may face financial risks if they are forced to treat non-contributors without adequate compensation, potentially straining existing equipment and personnel.

Simultaneously, Deputy Víctor Pérez criticized the proposed 167.074 billion pesos for Infrastructure, Communications, and Transport. Although this represents an 8.8 percent nominal increase over 2026, Pérez argued the funds are insufficient to modernize roads, improve signaling, and ensure highway safety. He emphasized that road security is a matter of both public safety and economic competitiveness.
