PAN Michoacán seeks law to cancel elections if organized crime interference proven

State leader of Mexico's National Action Party (PAN), Carlos Quintana Martínez, introduced a legislative proposal in Michoacán that would permit the annulment of elections and the removal of party registrations when evidence shows organized‑crime groups have interfered in the electoral process. The measure aims to give authorities a mechanism to invalidate results and sanction parties that allow such infiltration.

Quintana accused the ruling Morena party of tolerating criminal involvement and called for a prompt investigation into the recent homicide of journalist Manzo in Uruapan, demanding clear results from the state prosecutor. He stressed that without new legislation, the integrity of Michoacán's elections remains at risk.
