PAN strengthens Mexico City political structures for 2027
The National Action Party (PAN) in Mexico City is strengthening its political structures and grassroots presence in preparation for the 2027 elections. Party leaders, including Alejandra Reyes and Astrid Espinosa, stated that the goal is to recover public trust and present the party as a viable alternative to the current Morena administration, citing concerns over corruption and lack of opportunities for youth.
Héctor Barrera, General Secretary of PAN CDMX, criticized the current administration's budget priorities, arguing that funds are being directed toward projects like the Tren Maya and Dos Bocas rather than improving public services and medical supplies.
Separately, Renán Barrera Concha has commented on the national strategy of PAN President Jorge Romero. He suggested that the shift away from citizen-led candidacies toward a 'political franchise' model could inadvertently create opportunities for rival parties such as Morena and Movimiento Ciudadano (MC).
