Panama and FAO sign 2026-2030 cooperation framework

Panama and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have signed a new Country Programming Framework for 2026-2030. This agreement aims to establish a roadmap for the next five years to address national priorities through specific programs, investments, and alliances.

The cooperation framework focuses on several key areas, including agricultural innovation and digitalization, food security, nutrition, climate change adaptation, and the sustainability of fisheries and aquaculture. It also seeks to promote inclusive rural development, supporting family farming, women, youth, and indigenous communities.

According to the FAO, approximately 500,000 Panamanians have moved out of hunger conditions. The new agreement is intended to build on decades of technical cooperation between the two entities to improve the population's quality of life and promote a resilient, sustainable bioeconomy.
