Panama and Kenya robotics teams head to South Korea for FIRST Global Challenge

National robotics teams from Panama and Kenya have departed for Incheon, South Korea, to compete in the 2026 FIRST Global Challenge. The international competition, themed ‘Igniting Innovation’, is scheduled to take place from October 6 to October 10.

The event focuses on developing technological solutions for wildfire prevention, mitigation, and recovery. Team Kenya enters the competition following a silver medal performance at the 2025 event in Panama City. The Kenyan delegation was officially flagged off by Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo, who emphasized the government's commitment to STEM education.

Team Panamá consists of five students supported by FUNDESTEAM, an organization dedicated to promoting STEAM education. The Panamanian delegation includes students from various institutions, including Colegio Bilingüe Visión del Saber, Panamá Christian Academy, Colegio Bilingüe Panamá, and St. Peter Academy, accompanied by mentors Carlos Molinar and Alexander Cáceres.
