Panama and Mexico craft fairs showcase local artisans

The National Handicrafts Fair of Panama concluded at the Atlapa Convention Center with 677 exhibitors, representing a rise of 200 participants from the previous edition. Organizers reported an estimated economic impact of about $1.2 million and highlighted the event’s role in promoting the country’s multicultural heritage, featuring traditional polleras, cutarras, molas and indigenous crafts.

In Mexico, the Tunich Handicraft Fair in the village of Dzityá, near Mérida, wrapped up its 25th anniversary edition on 1‑2 August 2026. The fair hosted 168 exhibitors from Mérida, surrounding municipalities and other Mexican states, offering wood, stone, textiles, pottery and jewellery. Admission was free, and the final weekend featured live music performances, family shows and free shuttle service provided by the Mérida city government.
