Panama Pacific firms clean Playa Veracruz as Mexico's Quintana Roo advances sargazo circular economy

Companies, students, authorities and volunteers from the Panama Pacific area carried out a beach‑cleaning campaign at Playa Veracruz in the Arraiján district. The event, organized by the Association of Companies of the Panama Pacific Area (ADEDAPP) together with the Panama Pacific Agency, gathered dozens of participants who removed solid waste and promoted environmental education, highlighting multi‑sector collaboration for sustainable development.

In Quintana Roo, Mexico, the Secretariat of Economic Development (SEDE) hosted a meeting titled “Sargazo Circular: Connecting Innovation, Business and Environmental Impact.” The forum brought together businesses, academic institutions and government officials to showcase startups turning sargazo into bio‑fertilizers, footwear, biodigesters, construction materials and other high‑value products. Officials emphasized that the sargazo initiative aims to diversify the state’s economy, generate jobs and position the region as a national model for circular economy practices.
