Panama President Mulino concludes official visit to Vietnam

Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino has concluded a three-day official visit to Vietnam, marking the first visit by a Panamanian head of state to the country in 14 years. During the visit, Mulino met with high-level officials, including General Secretary and President Tô Lâm, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, and National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man.

The visit resulted in the signing of nine cooperation agreements covering maritime transport, agriculture, trade, tourism, customs, and the prevention of transnational crime. A memorandum of understanding was also signed between the chambers of commerce and industry of both nations to strengthen business ties.

A central objective of the mission was to position Panama as a logistical gateway for Vietnamese products entering the Americas. In turn, both governments discussed leveraging their respective regional advantages. During a business forum involving approximately 95 companies, including Vingroup and Vinfast, discussions focused on industrial, maritime, and agribusiness alliances. Additionally, Vietnam announced plans to reopen its embassy in Panama next year.
