Panama's Western Hospital Receives U.S. Medical Mission Boost

Around 100 patients in Panama's western province received cardiology, speech‑therapy and other specialist care at Hospital Nicolás A. Solano as part of the "Juntos por la Salud" initiative. The program, launched by Panama’s Ministry of Health and the U.S. Embassy, was highlighted by Health Minister Fernando Boyd Galindo and Ambassador Kevin Marino Cabrera, who noted the involvement of nine U.S. doctors from the Southern Command.

The mission provided services in cardiology, physiotherapy, pediatrics, gynecology and speech‑therapy, extending the public health system’s capacity. The government is moving forward with a $78 million tender to build a new Hospital Nicolás A. Solano and plans for a maternal‑child facility. The U.S. side committed to two additional weeks of support, aiming to reach more than 10,000 Panamanians; to date the initiative has benefited over 14,000 people and operates across 27 health facilities nationwide, including hospitals in San Miguel Arcángel and Santo Tomás.
