Panasonic Energy targets 1 trillion yen in data center storage sales
Panasonic Energy has announced a strategic goal to increase its sales in the data center energy storage system market to 1 trillion yen by fiscal year 2028, approximately triple its current level.
To support the growing infrastructure needs of generative AI, the company is shifting focus toward integrated energy solutions. This includes Battery Backup Units (BBU) for power supply, Capacitor Backup Units (CBU) to mitigate power fluctuations, and distributed power systems for server racks. Panasonic Energy aims to provide a complete vertical solution, managing everything from individual battery cells and control programs to mechanical design.
The company plans to invest 350 billion yen between fiscal 2026 and 2028 to develop next-generation technologies and establish a complete supply chain in North America. This expansion includes mass-producing data center cells at its Kansas plant in the US and utilizing manufacturing facilities in Mexico for modules.
