Panasonic unveils new PTZ cameras with global shutter technology

Panasonic has announced the development of two new high-end PTZ camera series, the AW-UE200 and AW-UER200, featuring what the company describes as the world’s first global-shutter MOS sensor in a PTZ camera.

The 1.2-inch 5K MOS sensor is designed to minimize image distortion when capturing fast-moving subjects, making it suitable for sports broadcasting and live events. The technology also aims to reduce flicker caused by LED displays and stage lighting, which is beneficial for virtual production environments. The sensor utilizes 5K oversampling to produce detailed 4K footage.

Both series include a lens with a 22x optical zoom and an 80-degree horizontal viewing angle. The AW-UE200 series is optimized for fast, precise movements, while the AW-UER200 series features a roll mechanism capable of rotating from -200° to +200°, supporting simultaneous 16:9 and 9:16 output for vertical video production. The AW-UE200 series is expected to release in February 2027, with the AW-UER200 series following in the second quarter of 2027.
