Panasonic development of global shutter PTZ cameras
Overview
Panasonic has announced the development of two high-end 4K remote PTZ camera series, the AW-UE200 and AW-UER200. These models feature what the company describes as the “world’s first global-shutter MOS sensor in a PTZ camera,” utilizing a 1.2-inch 5K MOS sensor to minimize image distortion during fast movement and reduce flickering in virtual production environments.
The AW-UE200 series, scheduled for a February 2027 release, includes a 22x optical zoom and high-speed pan/tilt capabilities. The AW-UER200 series, expected in the second quarter of 2027, features a unique roll mechanism allowing rotation between -200 and +200 degrees to support simultaneous 16:9 and 9:16 video output. Both series incorporate AI-based auto-framing and subject tracking, with specific models supporting IP-based professional production standards like SMPTE ST 2110 and Dante.
