PANDEF decries exclusion of Niger Delta from Nigeria's N3.9 trillion road projects

The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), led by National Chairman Ambassador Godknows Igali, criticised the Federal Executive Council’s recent approval of a N3.9 trillion road infrastructure programme, saying the South‑South geopolitical zone was effectively omitted.

Igali pointed out that out of 26 projects spanning 15 states, only the Benue‑Cross River border road – allocated N86 billion – runs near the Niger Delta, with no projects for the other five states in the region. He warned that such marginalisation “starves the goose that lays the golden egg,” cited the stalled East‑West Road and the abandonment of major ports, and urged President Bola Tinubu to ensure a fair, balanced allocation for the Niger Delta.
