Panhellenic Federation of Laboratory Physicians sues IDIKA and EOPYY over e‑prescription controls
The Panhellenic Federation of Laboratory Physicians (Π.Ο.ΕΡΓ.Ι.) has filed two ex parte lawsuits against the Hellenic Organization for Medicines (IDIKA) and the National Organization for Health Services Provision (EOPYY). The federation demands that IDIKA disclose which electronic checks are applied to prescriptions, which are binding, which can be bypassed, who decides their activation or modification, and how related actions are recorded. It also asks EOPYY for data on the number of checks performed on prescribing physicians, any sanctions imposed, and details on rebate and clawback mechanisms affecting diagnostic spending.
The federation reports that new electronic referral forms have raised further concerns, suggesting that some referrals may circumvent established prescribing protocols and time limits for certain diagnostic tests. It stresses that effective enforcement of these controls is essential to protect public health expenditure and to ensure compliance with statutory prescribing rules.
