Paniai interfaith vocal contest celebrates Indonesia's 81st independence day

The Forum Kerukunan Umat Beragama (FKUB) of Paniai Regency partnered with the GPdI Anthiokia Enarotali church to hold an inter‑faith vocal group competition in Enarotali‑Madi on 30‑31 July 2026. The event, part of celebrations for Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day, attracted about 300 participants and guests, including local government officials, TNI‑Polri representatives, religious leaders and community members.

Eleven church groups performed two songs each – the mandatory "Tanah Papua" and a chosen religious piece – and were judged on vocal quality, harmony, technique, expression and stage presence. Paroki St. Yosef Enarotali won first place, followed by GKI Zaitun Enarotali and GPdI Anthiokia Enarotali. Winners received trophies, certificates and development assistance. FKUB Chair Pdt. Hans Tebai said the competition aimed to strengthen inter‑faith brotherhood and prepare the region’s youth for higher‑level Pesparawi contests.
