Pantalla Uruguay cattle auction hits 99% sales, prices rise

The Pantalla Uruguay livestock auction, held at the LATU facilities in Montevideo, sold 99.13% of the 5,869 cattle offered on the first day and 99.55% of the total 8,835 animals across the event. The high placement covered calves, heifers, yearlings and pregnant cows. Average prices for calves increased, with 140‑kg‑and‑under calves averaging US$4.26 per kilogram, a 5.2% rise from the previous auction, and older calves showing similar gains. Heifers also posted higher averages, reaching US$3.97 per kilogram, up 3.1%. The auction featured a broad range of categories, including Holando calves, yearlings, and pregnant cows, all achieving price increases or stable values compared with the prior sale.
