Greek and Cypriot football clubs face injury and international call-up challenges

The ongoing international break is presenting significant challenges for several major football clubs due to player absences and injury concerns.

Olympiacos faces a depleted roster as many players are called up for national team duties. Manager Imanol Alguacil is working to implement a more offensive tactical identity, specifically requesting more involvement from midfielders in the final third. The club is also managing several injuries, including Leon Bailey and Gustavo Sá, while remaining cautious about new transfers.

PAOK is experiencing a severe injury crisis, with the squad reduced to approximately 19 available players. The club has seen six players undergo surgery in the last four and a half months, including Tom Louse, Dimitris Giannoulis, and Pantelis Chatzidiakos. The combination of international call-ups and significant injuries has left manager Alessio Lixi with limited options.

In Cyprus, APOEL is utilizing the break to integrate new signings and manage the recovery of injured players. While Pieros Sotiriou remains on a long-term recovery program expected to last until mid-November, Konstantinos Laifinos may return to action sooner following his involvement with the Cyprus national team.
