Paolo Signorelli returns as communications chief for Minister Lollobrigida

Paolo Signorelli has returned to his position as head of communications for Italy’s Minister of Agriculture, Francesco Lollobrigida. This appointment marks his return to the role following his resignation in June 2024.

Signorelli previously stepped down after the publication of WhatsApp chats between him and Fabrizio ‘Diabolik’ Piscitelli, a former Lazio ultra leader. The leaked messages contained controversial content, including antisemitic remarks, praise for certain extremist figures, and discussions regarding stadium conflicts.

Regarding the controversy, Signorelli stated he is “estraneo a qualsiasi inchiesta” (estranged from any investigation) and previously noted that the contents of the old conversations were distant from his current views. Minister Lollobrigida supported the decision to bring Signorelli back, stating there was “nessun impedimento” (no impediment) to his return.
